I’m more than certain that food and a healthy lifestyle can change your health and your looks. Even though I’m a biochemist and I do believe in science and medical progress, I know that prevention is much more effective than any medicine we can find out there now and probably any medicine we can come up with during the next years.
One of the very wonderful things about the body is the fact that it can actually regenerate itself. And it does this daily – it’s being built and rebuilt continuously, but it needs a little help from you for that. Your body can make up for a lot of things, but it cannot make up for the lack of real food, movement, sleep and positive thoughts and emotions.
As for the way we look – it just happens that the skin, hair and nails are among the tissues that get reconstructed faster and that’s why what we eat and how we live shows quickly in the way we look.
All I know is that when I am stressed out, I don’t watch what I eat. Then I find real comfort in pastries and lots of coffee. Latte macchiato to be exact. That creamy drool-inducing Italian creature is my worst enemy, shame on the person who invented it!
This kind of diet makes the corners of my mouth break, my skin gets drier than sand and my hair starts shedding – which everyone around me I am sure loves passionately – after all it’s free material for a sweater.
But what happens when I eat whole foods, exercise and I’m actually happy – I feel and look the best I can and my skin is flawless and shines brighter than the diamond Rihanna was praising in her song.
