Hydrate and rejuvenate your body with this easy detox water recipe using 2 highly alkaline foods!
Last week I shared an anti-inflammatory recipe for detox water with ginger and lemon.
This week it’s time for another infused water recipe that is super refreshing and you could easily make at home, even if you don’t have fancy tools (like water infuser).
For this energizing drink we’ll use two very alkaline foods: lemons and cucumbers.
Now I don’t know if you’re familiar with the alkaline diet.
Well, it basically says that what you eat can either build acids or bases when it’s metabolized in the body.
In general foods high in protein & sugar build acids (grains & animal products), while foods rich in magnesium and potassium (vegetables and fruit) build bases in the body.
You want to have balance and eat more base-building, or alkaline foods, so you can reduce the acid-load in your body.
To me the alkaline diet is probably one of the healthiest diets out there.
Well, it’s not because I believe you need to make your blood more alkaline (that wouldn’t work anyway).
To me it’s one of the healthiest diets, because it’s anti-inflammatory and makes you eat tons of vegetables.

Some studies show that this diet not only provides your body with lots of nutrients, it also prevents the loss of minerals and nutrients from your muscles (study) and bones and improves detoxification.
Overall it’s an anti-aging diet that can greatly improve your health.
I’ve tried it a few times, my sister has tried it and it even helped her reduce the appearance of cellulite, which I didn’t think was possible. And you have SO MUCH energy!
If you have the willpower to follow through with a more alkaline diet – do it!
For now, this cucumber and lemon water will help you “become more alkaline”.
At least that’s what it does for me. I feel so rejuvenated and alive when I drink this and other detox waters regularly.
So here we go.
Rejuvenating and Alkalizing Cucumber Water
There are about a million and five ways to make lemon cucumber water, but here’s how I make it:
- 1/2 lemon, juice
- 2 glasses of water
- 1/2 cucumber, sliced
Mix everything in a glass pitcher or a big enough water bottle, then drink.
Optionally you could also blend the cucumber for more flavor.
If you don’t like the cucumber chunks – go ahead and strain the drink.
Additionally you can add herbs like mint or basil to make this healthy even more flavorful and nutrient-dense.
