Try this easy anti-inflammatory detox water for clear skin and flat belly! It's very refreshing, suppresses appetite and is an easy way to add some extra antioxidants to your diet! | www.beautybites.org

Here’s a quick recipe for an anti-inflammatory detox water that can greatly improve your skin, health and help you lose weight if you drink it daily. You need only 3 ingredients and one of them is water.

Can’t believe I’ll say it, but I actually love detox drinks. Not because I think they will magically change my body composition and get rid of toxins even if I eat junk food all day.

I love them because they’re an easy way to add antioxidants and more anti-inflammatory foods to my diet.

Even if I don’t feel like making an anti-inflammatory smoothie or a salad, there’s always time to infuse some water with healthy foods!

Like lemon and ginger.

They’re both amazing when it comes to detoxification and reducing systemic inflammation in the body. A little bit goes a long way.

I’ve talked about the lemon ginger drink I make every day a few times already, but I’ve never actually shared a recipe.

Today is the day, folks!

This is the ginger lemon water I drink most days!

It’s refreshing, makes me want to eat less (otherwise I snack all the time), helps me drink less coffee, but more water and therefore makes me feel more hydrated and energized and less bloated.

Drinking this is a simple way to improve your skin, your health, digestion and to make your belly flatter.

This lemon ginger water can also help you lose weight, because it suppresses appetite and can help control blood sugar.

How to Make this Anti-inflammatory Ginger Lemon Detox Water

There are so many different options to make this this anti-inflammatory detox water.

But here’s how I do it:

  • 1 lemon, juice of
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 4 glasses of filtered water
  • Optional: ice to cool

You mix everything together and drink it throughout the day. You can keep the detox water in the fridge as well, but I usually don’t do it and drink it within 3-4 hours.

If you don’t like to have chunks of ginger in the water what I do is blend everything in my blender, to make sure I’ve got the good stuff from ginger and then strain it. This way you keep the flavor and the antioxidants, but not the pulp.

Another option is: Instead of grating ginger and juicing lemon, you can also slice both and infuse the water like that. This would make a less intense flavor.

Health Benefits of Lemon

I know it’s a well-kept secret, but lemon has a good amount of vitamin C.

How much?

Well, by eating one lemon, for only 24kcal you buy 44.5 mg vitamin C or 74% DV. What a discount right?

Imagine if you ate 2 lemons?

Stop it!

Who can handle 48 kcal?

Well, in case you decide to take that chance, know that getting enough vitamin C has many health and beauty benefits, among others:

  • antioxidant (to prevent diseases like cancer, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases)
  • anti-inflammatory (study)
  • boosts your immune system
  • increases iron absorption
  • prevents wrinkles
  • prevents skin dehydration
  • important for proper wound healing
  • helps you stay calm
  • prevents hair loss
  • fat-burning (lower level of vitamin C in the body is associated with higher degree of overweight)
  • important for strong nails and hair

Lemon’s acidity can also lower glycemic index of high GI foods like rice or bread (article).

Health Benefits of Ginger

Ginger is one of those foods that got very famous in recent years, because it’s very healthy:

  • lowers blood sugar
  • reduces inflammation
  • antioxidant (to prevent diseases like cancer, cardiovascular and Alzheimer’s)
  • fights fungal infections
  • helps treat nausea
  • can help with arthritis
  • reduces muscle & joint pain
  • can help with constipation

Benefits of Water (yeah, really!)

Last, but not least: water! It’s surprising how much drinking the right amount of water can do for you:

  • better energy levels
  • improved memory
  • better skin
  • actually burns more calories & prevents overeating
  • better digestion

I hope you enjoy this easy detox drink – remember, you don’t need to change EVERYTHING, but small changes like this add up and can make you feel great (even if you’re not perfect with diet and exercise!).

So do whatever you can and make the right choices for yourself today 🙂

I guess, I assumed everyone would use water that’s good for drinking and I forgot to mention it! Sorry! To make it clear: Nothing anti-inflammatory about unfiltered water

I just found your blog today and want to thank you for taking the time to write down all this information which for me is a Godsend! I had VAT surgery last September to remove a cancer along with a third of my right upper lung. After many tests for the past 6 months because of a low immune system, 2 months ago I was given a diagnosis of lupus combine with sjogren’s and rhumatoïde arthritis. I was to say the least shocked to hear that my diagnosis of arthritis 3 years ago had turned into 3 immune system diseases. After a few days of reflection and a lot of research about my situation I decided to refuse all treatments and change the way I eat instead of taking medications with side effects that are sometimes worst than diseases themselves! I have stopped eating all processed food, gluten, sugar, salt, red meat and now only use olive or avocado oil. I have never eaten so much green stuff in my life and I will also take some of your advice on how to reduce inflammation, in all the research I have done I find that your blog is the one that has helped me the most in reassuring me that I have taken the right decision by taking the management of my health in my own hands. Just want to say that the difference in the way I feel is incredible, more energy, better sleep, no more endless headaches and the level of pain I have now is nothing compare to what it was 2 months ago. There is still a lot I have not read yet on your blog and I can’t wait to keep on reading. My biggest problem now is managing my weight because I have always been thin and no matter what I ate I could not gain weight and with this new way of eating I am loosing too much weight which is something I can’t afford, eventually I am sure I will find a way to figure it out. Again thank you….I no longer have to search anywhere else now because with your blog I finally found what I was looking for!!

Thank you so much, Nicole. Thank you for coming here and sharing your story. I’m sorry for everything you’ve been through over the last few years, it’s just so much. Even reading it, I felt the pain. However, I’m really glad that you’re taking care of yourself, you’re doing such a great job and you should be really proud of yourself for taking action. So many people have access to great information and don’t do anything with it, but talk. I’m so happy you’re feeling better and you’re obviously making the right dietary choices, just make sure to eat enough too. I don’t know many people who struggle to gain weight, but a friend of mine lost a lot after having twins and the only thing that helped her gain weight again was not so much diet, as starting to do strength training. The other biggest factor for your immune system is sleep (it’s probably the most important one!) and of course hobbies to reduce stress (listening to music that makes you feel good, being in nature…whatever makes you really happy – it’s good for your immune system). If you have any questions or if there’s anything I can help you with, let me know!

Hello. I’m really happy to have stumbled upon your website! Lots of great information, thank you for sharing.

In the above recipe, when you wrote 4 glasses of water, did you actually mean 4 separate glasses of water or 4 cups? (Sorry for my denseness!)

Thanks from a new fan from Alaska!
